Pune: With the festive season of Bhogi and Makar Sankranti underway, the demand for fruits has surged in Pune's markets, leading to a noticeable increase in prices. Despite a significant inflow of jujubes (bor) at the Market Yard, prices have risen by 20% due to high demand.

Similarly, lemon prices have also climbed by 10–15%. However, the prices of other fruits remained stable compared to the previous week, thanks to balanced supply and demand.

According to traders, Sunday (January 12) saw a robust inflow of fruits at the Market Yard. The arrivals included 30–40 tons of mosambi (sweet lime), 50–60 tons of oranges, 15–20 tons of pomegranates, 18–20 truckloads of papayas, around 2,000 sacks of lemons, 10–12 truckloads of watermelons, 5–6 truckloads of muskmelons, 1,000 boxes of sapodilla (chikoo), 300–400 crates of guavas, 6 truckloads of pineapples, 2–3 tons of custard apples, and 7,500–8,000 sacks of jujubes.

Festive Demand Drives Up Flower Prices

Pune: The wholesale flower market at Gultekdi Market Yard has seen a surge in supply and demand due to the festive season of Bhogi and Makar Sankranti. Flowers from Pune district and surrounding regions have flooded the market, meeting the high demand for the celebrations.
