Pune: In a late-night robbery, a man was deceived and robbed by two individuals who falsely accused him of driving a stolen car. The victim, identified as 47-year-old Sachin Sudhakar Tile, was en route to his home in Wakad after a work trip to Ahmednagar when the incident took place.

Tile was driving through Pune-Nagar Road near Wagholi around 1:30 AM when two unidentified men in another car intercepted his vehicle near Kanha Metals.

Claiming that the car he was driving was stolen, the suspects convinced Tile to accompany them to a nearby police station. However, instead of heading to the police, the men forcibly took his mobile phone and began driving the vehicle towards a remote location.

The journey continued through various routes, including Kharadi Road, Awhalwadi, Manjari, Kolwadi, and Theur, before reaching Ganesh Nagar in Khamgaon. Sensing the isolation of the area, the suspects intimidated Tile, forcing him out of the vehicle on the deserted road at around 2:30 AM. They then fled with his car, leaving him stranded.

Tile quickly reported the crime to the police, providing descriptions of the suspects. One was estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, while the other appeared to be around 30-35.

Both men were speaking in Marathi during the incident. Authorities from the Lonikand police station are currently investigating the case and searching for the perpetrators.

This incident adds to a string of robberies and vehicle thefts in the region, raising concerns over safety on the city's outskirts, particularly during late hours. Police are urging residents to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately.
