Pune: A 33-year-old man took his own life, reportedly due to his wife's extramarital affair.

The deceased, identified as Sopan Dhondiba Kendre, was found hanging in his home on April 6th. The Lonikand police have registered a case against his wife and her alleged lover, accusing them of abetting the suicide.

Sopan, originally from Nanded, had moved to Vitthalwadi, Lonikand, with his family three years ago. He had been married since 2016. According to the police, Sopan discovered that his wife was involved in an illicit relationship with Madhukar Ambaji Kendre, who is also from Nanded.

Distressed by the affair, Sopan reportedly confronted his wife and urged her to end the relationship. This led to frequent arguments between the couple.

The situation escalated when both the wife and Madhukar allegedly threatened Sopan, with Madhukar purportedly telling him to leave his wife, stating that he would take care of her.

On the day of the incident, Sopan’s sister tried to reach him by phone, but when she received no response, she contacted his wife, who claimed to be visiting her native place. Concerned, the sister then called the landlord, who discovered Sopan's body after opening the door to the house.

Sopan’s mother has since filed a complaint with the Lonikand police, alleging that her son was driven to suicide due to the harassment and threats from his wife and her lover. The police have begun an investigation into the matter.
