Pune: The Marathi theatre industry is experiencing a resurgence with a lineup of fresh, diverse productions featuring renowned artists and emerging talent. Veteran actors Sachin Khedekar and Mahesh Manjrekar are making a highly anticipated return to the stage, while newcomers like Urmila Kanetkar and Virajas Kulkarni will make their theatrical debuts.

Sachin Khedekar Returns to Theatre After 21 Years with "Bhoomika"

The play "Bhoomika," written by Kshitij Patwardhan and directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni, premiered on March 28. Produced by Jigisha and Ashtavinayak Productions, it stars Sachin Khedekar in a lead role. This play marks Khedekar’s first professional theatre performance in 21 years, adding to the anticipation among theatre enthusiasts.

Mahesh Manjrekar’s Theatrical Comeback with a Suspense Thriller

Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar is also making a return to the theatre world with a play that he has both written and directed. The show will premiere on April 6.

A highlight of this production is actress Urmila Kanetkar’s theatre debut, alongside emerging actor Virajas Kulkarni. Falling under the suspense thriller genre, this play promises to offer a gripping experience.

"Kutumb Kirrtan" Brings Laughter with a Unique Family Comedy

The family comedy "Kutumb Kirrtan" has also begun its theatrical run. Produced by Gauri Theatres and presented by the Prashant Damle Fan Foundation, the play is written and performed by Sankarshan Karhade. This humorous play explores family dynamics and features seasoned actress Vandana Gupte and young talent Tanvi Mundle.

A Literary Treat: "11 Vapurcha" Brings V.P. Kale’s Works to Life

For literature lovers, "11 Vapurcha" offers a unique theatrical experience based on the works of legendary writer V.P. Kale. Written and directed by Swati Kale-Chandorkar, the daughter of V.P. Kale, this production features acclaimed actors Sunil Barve and Shashank Ketkar. It is a must-watch for fans of Marathi literature and V.P. Kale’s storytelling.
