Pune: A shocking case of fraud has come to light in Pune’s Baner area, where a young female computer engineer was cheated of ₹35 lakh by a man who promised marriage. The accused, identified as Saish Vinod Jadhav (25), a resident of Chembur, Mumbai, was arrested by the Baner Police after an investigation into the complaint filed by the victim.

According to police reports, the 29-year-old victim, who resides in a girls' hostel in Baner and works as an IT engineer, had registered on a matrimonial website in 2023 in hopes of finding a life partner. The accused, Saish Jadhav, contacted her using his registered mobile number and soon initiated a meeting in the Baner area.

During their interactions, the woman inquired about his family, to which he provided false information to win her trust. He claimed that he was facing financial difficulties due to fraud committed by a friend, despite planning to get married soon.

Using emotional manipulation, Saish convinced the victim to lend him money. In an effort to support him, she even took a loan from a private financial institution. Over a period of one and a half years, he borrowed a total of ₹35.25 lakh from her on different occasions.

When the woman later questioned him about their wedding plans, he repeatedly avoided the topic and gave vague responses. Realizing she had been deceived, she approached Baner Police and lodged a formal complaint.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Baner Police launched an investigation and managed to track down the accused in Mumbai. Following his arrest, he was brought to Pune, and further investigation is now being conducted under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Anil Kekane.
