Pune: A shocking act of violence occurred on Saturday evening in Mahadevnagar, Pune, where a minor boy attempted to murder an elderly man following a seemingly trivial altercation.

The incident took place in front of a two-wheeler garage in Ganesh Colony, where 68-year-old Bashir Haider Chaudhary was standing.

The altercation began when a 16-year-old boy, standing nearby, was gargling, and some of the water splashed onto Chaudhary. This accidental splash of water set off a chain of events that escalated into a serious physical attack.

Annoyed by the water that landed on him, Bashir Chaudhary reacted by slapping the boy and questioning his behavior. The slap, however, enraged the minor, who responded with threats of violence, saying, "I will finish you, old man!"

In a fit of rage, the boy picked up a stone and struck Chaudhary forcefully on the head, attempting to cause serious harm.

Chaudhary, who sustained severe injuries from the blow, was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, where he is currently recovering.

His son, Sameer Bashir Chaudhary, promptly lodged a complaint at the Sinhagad Road Police Station, leading to a case being registered against the 16-year-old attacker. The police are investigating the incident, with Sub-Inspector Nimbalkar handling the case.

The unexpected escalation of a simple disagreement into a violent attack has left the community in shock, as such incidents involving minors are particularly concerning
