Pune: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) is once again facing criticism for its inefficiency, as candidates selected for the post of Bahujan Welfare Officer (Class 2) have not yet received their recommendation letters, even two months after the final selection list was announced. This delay has left aspirants in mental, financial, and social distress, raising serious concerns about MPSC’s administrative inefficiency.
Two-Month Wait After Selection
On January 28, 2025, MPSC released the final selection list for the Bahujan Welfare Officer (Class 2) post under Advertisement 13/2023. However, even after two months, the candidates have not received their official recommendation letters, which are essential for their formal appointment. This has led to growing frustration among the selected candidates, who are eagerly awaiting their government jobs but are stuck in uncertainty due to administrative delays.
Contradictory Timelines for Different Posts
The delay is particularly puzzling because another Class 2 post, Social Welfare Officer, was also filled through the same preliminary examination. For this post, MPSC announced the recommendation list on March 4, 2025, and by March 17, 2025, individual recommendation letters were issued. However, for the Bahujan Welfare Officer post, the process has stalled, and the candidates have been left waiting for an indefinite period without any official explanation.
Mental and Financial Burden on Candidates
The delay is causing severe mental stress for the candidates. "We have been waiting for two months, yet there is no clarity from MPSC. This uncertainty is affecting our mental health and career planning," said one of the affected candidates.
Additionally, many candidates are facing financial struggles, as they had been counting on this government job to secure their future. Some have even borrowed money or quit private jobs in anticipation of their appointment, making the delay even more stressful.
Candidates Demand Urgent Action
The selected candidates have urged MPSC to take immediate action and issue the pending recommendation letters without further delay. Since many of them depend on this job for financial stability, the delay is affecting their career progression and personal lives.
