Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL - Mahavitaran) team successfully restored electricity in ten villages after a key electric pole on the Waghjai feeder collapsed in the hilly terrain of Mahude-Karungan (Taluka Bhor).
The restoration involved transporting and installing a replacement pole through rugged terrain, ensuring power was reinstated by Wednesday evening.
The 11 kV Waghjai line under Hiradoshi branch was initially shut down on Tuesday morning for scheduled repairs. However, after work was completed at 4:30 PM, electricity could not be restored due to an unforeseen fault in the Karungan hill area. Workers identified a collapsed pole in the inaccessible terrain, delaying immediate repairs until daylight.
On Wednesday (December 18), Mahavitaran staff transported a new pole by vehicle to Karungan. With no vehicular access to the site, the team carried the pole by foot for one and a half hours, using ropes and wooden frames to navigate the challenging pathway. The replacement pole was installed, and wiring was completed by the evening.
This effort restored power to ten villages, including Karungan, Warwand, Shirgaon Ashimpi, Umbarde, Shilim, Kund, Rajwadi, Durgadi, and Abhepuri. Residents commended Mahavitaran for their quick and determined response to the issue.
The repair operation was led by Deputy Executive Engineer Avinash Waghmare, Junior Engineer Sagar Pawar, and Chief Technician Rajendra Vanve, with significant contributions from Senior Technician Ranjit Babar, Bhagwan Thakur, and external staff members.
