MTDC Launches Tourist Guide Program to Boost Local Employment and Skill Development

The guides will also receive language training to assist tourists in Marathi, Hindi, English, and foreign languages, ensuring an enriching and seamless experience for visitors.

Pune: The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has introduced the "MTDC Resorts Destination Tourist Guide" initiative to provide skill development opportunities for youth and enhance tourism experiences across the state. This program aims to equip local guides with the expertise needed to offer a superior experience to tourists visiting MTDC locations, while also promoting the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

Under the program, local individuals will undergo specialized training to become professional tourist guides. The training will include in-depth knowledge about Maharashtra's historical, cultural, and natural heritage, along with practical skills in professionalism, customer service, and communication. The guides will also receive language training to assist tourists in Marathi, Hindi, English, and foreign languages, ensuring an enriching and seamless experience for visitors.

Successful candidates will be awarded certificates and official identification badges by MTDC. Applications, accompanied by passport-sized photographs and necessary documents, must be submitted via email to "resortguide@maharashtratourism.gov.in" by January 15. Detailed information can be accessed on the MTDC official website.

Speaking about the program, Manojkumar Suryawanshi, Managing Director of MTDC, said, “Maharashtra is home to numerous world-class tourist destinations. This guide program will not only elevate the travel experience for tourists but also generate local employment opportunities within the tourism sector.”

Key Eligibility Criteria for Applicants:

  • Age Range: 21 to 35 years

  • Educational Qualification: Minimum pass in 8th, SSC, or HSC

  • Language Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and speak in Marathi, Hindi, English, or a foreign language

  • Residency: Applicants must be local residents

The initiative is expected to enhance tourist satisfaction and bolster the state’s tourism industry while creating sustainable job opportunities for the local youth.
