Pune: A massive fire broke out at Praj Company in Uravade, Mulshi Taluka, on Friday (March 28) night. While the exact cause is yet to be determined, initial assessments suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the incident. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, though significant property damage is suspected.
The fire erupted around 8:15 PM, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air. Prompt action by local authorities and fire departments helped bring the situation under control.
Five fire tenders were deployed to the scene, with teams from Hinjewadi and Bavdhan fire stations working tirelessly to contain the blaze. Officials expect to assess the total damage and determine the exact cause by tomorrow.
At the time of the incident, around 10 to 11 workers were present at the facility. However, many were on their dinner break, either in the canteen or outside the premises, which helped avoid injuries or casualties.
The fire rapidly intensified, drawing the attention of local residents. Narendra Marne, the owner of Narendra Health Club, located in front of the company, immediately alerted the police. His swift response, along with coordinated efforts from multiple fire stations, ensured a quick containment of the fire, preventing further escalation.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and a detailed report on the damage is expected soon.
