A man in Mumbai has been apprehended by Maharashtra Police for allegedly conspiring to kill his wife, Geeta Chaudhary, in a premeditated act motivated by an extramarital relationship. Initially thought to be a suicide, the case was uncovered a year and a half later following a thorough investigation that exposed the disturbing facts.
The event occurred on October 14, 2024, when Geeta, aged 34, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in her kitchen. The individual has been recognized as Sakaram.
Authorities first considered it an accidental death and filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR). The autopsy conducted then could not establish a definitive cause of death, and Geeta's remains were later sent to Rajasthan for her funeral, as reported by NDTV.
Nonetheless, doubts emerged among her relatives. According to the report, her father, Bhanaram Chaudhary, could not believe that his daughter would commit suicide.
Believing that there was wrongdoing, he filed an official complaint and urged for the case to be reopened. Geeta's body was exhumed, and a subsequent autopsy verified that she had died due to strangulation.
The inquiry revealed that Sakaram made two attempts to kill Geeta before deciding to hire others to carry out the murder.
The initial effort was to orchestrate a car accident in Powai, followed by a physical attack. When these plans did not succeed, he recruited his friend, Shankar Dangi, along with two associates, Babu (also referred to as Raghav or Amarchand Gayari) and Dinesh Gayri, to execute the murder for a payment of ₹6.7 lakh.
On October 14, they choked Geeta and arranged the scene to look like a suicide.
While being interrogated, Sakaram first provided false information to the investigators but later confessed to the crime. He disclosed that he was having an affair with a woman named Dimple Chaudhary and desired to live with her. His wife, Geeta, was seen as a 'hindrance' to this plan.
