Board Exams 2021: ICSE postpones Classes 10, 12 exams

New Delhi: Against the backdrop of rising cases of COVID-19, the Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations has postponed the ICSE (class 10), ISC (class 12) has decided to postpone its examinations.

This come after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)'s recently decided to cancel and postpone the classes 10, 12 exams respectively. As per the schedule, the class 10 exam was scheduled from May 5 to June 7, while the class 12 exam was supposed to be concluded on June 16.

Meanwhile, last year, the board exams were cancelled, and students were evaluated on the basis of internal assignments. As per the scheme, candidates were assessed based on the best three subjects percentage marks for which board exams were held and also on their internal tests, project work marks.

According to ICSE press release, “In the light of the nationwide surge in Covid 19 cases, the CISCE has decided to defer the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) board examinations scheduled to be held from May 4, 2021. The Covid situation will be closely monitored and the deferment of the ICSE & ISC.”

“In view of the ICSE (Class X) candidates opting for the second option, the CISCE will develop a fair and an unbiased criterion while preparing the results of such candidates,” it added.

CBSE on Thursday decided to cancel exams after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and other officials to discuss the examination issue. The Education Minister also requested other states and boards to consider the decision taken by CBSE and follow the same in the interest of students' future and health. Till now over 10 states have decided to postpone or cancel their board exams in the light of coronavirus crisis.

Meanwhile, the SSC and HSC board exams for Classes 10 and 12 were postponed by the Maharashtra state government, the State’s School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad announced.
