Budget 2021: Rs 95,000 crore for roads development in West Bengal

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Budget 2021 announced that Rs 95,000 crore will be spend on roads in West Bengal. As soon as the announcement was done, the parliament received the loudest thumping of desks. It is believed that this is central government’s master stroke as West Bengal gears up for the elections in upcoming months.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also said, “The Government aims to complete 11,000 km of national highway infrastructure this year. It includes 3,500 km corridor in Tamil Nadu followed by 1,100 km in Kerala at investment of Rs 65,000 crore.”

“Corridors of 675 km in West Bengal is also proposed at cost of Rs 95,000 crore followed by 1,300 km in Assam in next three years, she added.
