The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called for a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration is backed by Opposition parties, with protesters expected to begin arriving in the morning.

Authorities have announced security measures and transport restrictions across the capital. Here is what protesters and commuters need to know before travelling.

Government Preparations For CJP Protest

1. Police checks at Delhi borders

Faridabad Police has established checkpoints at eight major entry and exit points, including Badarpur border, Pul Pehladpur, Shooting Range border and Mangar Chowk.

Officials said each checkpoint would have 30 police personnel, working in 12-hour shifts from 10 am to 10 pm to monitor traffic entering the capital.

At the Uttar Pradesh border, the Chilla border and the Delhi-Noida Direct Flyway are expected to see heightened checks. Police will inspect vehicles and passengers, according to a senior officer.

2. Detention centres across all 15 districts

Delhi Police has set up detention centres in all 15 districts. District teams have been directed to increase patrolling and monitor people travelling towards the protest area.

According to the information provided, those who refuse police directions to turn back may be taken to detention centres.

3. Hotel and guesthouse checks

Police have inspected hotels and guesthouses across Delhi and instructed operators not to accommodate new visitors suspected of arriving for the protest.

4. Monitoring of food-delivery orders

Police sources said bulk orders placed through platforms such as Zomato, Blinkit and Zepto for delivery to the protest area would be closely monitored.

5. Restrictions around Jantar Mantar

Police have contacted cab aggregators Uber and Ola regarding vehicle movement near Jantar Mantar. This could affect access to the protest venue.

Shops and restaurants around Connaught Place are expected to remain shut on October 10 following an advisory by a traders’ association identified in the report as the NDTA.
