Power Minister Manohar Lal has stated that a single energy pathway cannot suit every nation, as each has distinct resources, requirements, and development priorities, and he has urged a pragmatic, technology-neutral strategy for the global energy transition.

According to a media statement issued after the second day of the meeting on Tuesday, the Union minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar lal attended the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting here and highlighted how India has managed to align rapid economic growth with its clean energy objectives.

"India shared a clear view that every country has different resources, needs and development priorities. Therefore, there cannot be one energy path for all," Manohar Lal said.

"We need a practical and technology-neutral approach that ensures reliable and affordable energy, underpinned by the principles of sustainable development."

Emphasizing advances in domestic infrastructure, the minister noted that more than half of India’s power grid now runs on non-fossil fuel sources.

He added that India is swiftly incorporating renewable energy, expanding transmission networks, increasing energy storage capacity, and streamlining regulatory procedures to ensure project approvals are both predictable and efficient.

Tuesday’s discussions centered on two main priorities of the US Presidency: safeguarding energy security while maintaining affordable baseload power, and streamlining regulatory approvals to make them faster and simpler.

The minister noted that during Wednesday’s final deliberations, G20 delegates will turn their attention to critical minerals.

He said that India will advocate secure and diversified supply chains, while promoting local processing, recycling, and value addition, especially in developing countries.
