Kozhikode: Over 100s of gelatin sticks were confiscated by Railway Police Force at Kerala’s Kozhikode Railway Station, on Friday. The explosives including 350 detonators and 117 gelatin sticks, were found in Kozhikode from Chennai-Mangaluru Superfast Express.

According to multiple reports, a native from Chennai was taken into custody. The police in the state are concerned about the quantity of the explosive material. The Kerala Police also stated that it has also arrested a suspected woman, who has admitted that she was carrying the gelatin sticks and detonators for ‘digging wells’.

However, the police stated that an investigation has been initiated and all angles are being investigated as assembly elections are scheduled to take place in the state in April and May this year.

The catch is significant as it comes on the backdrop an incident where a van with gelatin sticks weighing 2.60 kg was found outside the residence of Reliance Industries Head, Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai.

The police seized 21 gelatin sticks, each weighing 125 gm from the van. Police said that the quantity is enough to explode the entire van if the explosive were linked to detonating devices.
