No More Repeated Digging Pune Roads! Simultaneous CCTV and ICCC Cabling Work Across 230 km

Mahapreet and Pune Police need to excavate 500 km each. Independent work on these projects would have caused significant road damage.

Pune: To minimize public inconvenience, the Pune Police and Mahapreet will simultaneously lay cables for the Pune City Surveillance (PCS) project and the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) across 230 km of roads. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has directed both agencies to coordinate their excavation work to avoid repeated digging.

Joint Implementation to Prevent Road Damage
The ICCC project, funded by the Central Government under a disaster management initiative, is being executed by Mahapreet to establish a city-wide cable network. Simultaneously, Pune Police are setting up a CCTV surveillance system, which also requires extensive cabling. Since both projects involve major road excavations, PMC recommended a single-phase execution to prevent recurring damage.

Following this decision, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P. chaired a joint meeting on March 25 at PMC, attended by:

  • Pune Police representatives

  • Mahapreet officials

  • PMC’s Road Department engineers

500 km of Road Digging Required
Both Mahapreet and the Pune Police need to excavate a total of 500 km each. Independent work on these projects would have caused significant road damage, leading to increased inconvenience for citizens. By coordinating efforts, excavation across 230 km of roads will now be completed in a single phase.

Road Restoration Responsibility Assigned to Mahapreet
After the cabling work is finished, Mahapreet will be responsible for restoring and resurfacing the roads. PMC officials emphasized that strict supervision will be required to ensure high-quality road restoration. Supervisors will be appointed for monitoring the work.

Additionally, some extra digging will be required beyond the 230 km, for which funding will be requested from the State Government.

"Apart from this 230 km excavation, additional digging will be required, and we will seek funds from the State Government."
– Prithviraj B.P., Additional Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation
