Pune: On International Women’s Day, an incident at Shastrinagar Chowk in Pune has sparked public outrage after a drunken youth was caught engaging in obscene behavior in public. A video of the act went viral, drawing sharp criticism and calls for immediate action. Following the uproar, Pune’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himmat Jadhav confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused and that efforts are underway to apprehend him.
Investigation and Police Action
According to DCP Himmat Jadhav, the incident occurred around 7:30 AM when the youth was seen urinating in public and displaying indecent behavior. The police have already contacted the accused’s parents, and a special team has been dispatched to take him into custody. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are tracing the suspect through his relatives and friends.
The accused was identified through CCTV footage, and a formal case has been registered against him. However, police officials are withholding certain details to avoid compromising the investigation. Multiple teams have been deployed to search for the accused at various suspected locations.
Two Individuals Under Police Radar
Authorities are also investigating the involvement of a second individual seen in the vehicle with the accused. CCTV footage confirms the presence of two people, and both are expected to be taken into custody soon. The vehicle involved in the incident has not yet been seized, but the identity of both individuals has been confirmed.
Additionally, law enforcement officials are probing whether the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. CCTV recordings show that the suspect was seen traveling towards Wagholi before returning to the area.

The incident has led to public outrage, especially given that it occurred on a day meant to celebrate and empower women. Authorities are also reviewing whether the accused has any prior criminal records, though no past investigations have been conducted on him so far.
