Pune: The District and Sessions Court Shivajinagar has remanded Gaurav Ahuja and Bhagyesh Oswal to one-day police custody in connection with their alleged obscene acts on Pune streets. The duo was presented before the court today (March 9), where their lawyers contested the charges, alleging procedural lapses by the police.

During the hearing, Gaurav Ahuja’s lawyer accused the police of succumbing to political pressure and media influence. The lawyer argued that the application of Section 65 was premature, as the chemical analysis report had not yet been received. Additionally, he stated that the police had failed to recover any incriminating substances from the crime scene, suggesting that the entire case was fueled by a media trial.

Similarly, Bhagyesh Oswal’s lawyer contended that his client was wrongfully implicated. He referred to a viral video clip, emphasizing that while a person was seen stepping out of the vehicle, Oswal remained inside the car throughout the incident. The lawyer also highlighted that Oswal was neither driving the vehicle nor involved in the alleged act, questioning the grounds on which the police had charged him.

In response, the public prosecutor sought seven-day police custody, arguing that further investigation was necessary. However, the court denied the request, instead ordering a one-day police remand for both accused. The case has drawn significant public and media attention, with legal proceedings set to continue as investigations progress.
