Pune: In two separate incidents of cyber fraud in Pune’s Hadapsar area, two residents were collectively duped of ₹28 lakh by fraudsters offering false promises of extra income and part-time jobs.

In the first case, Darshan Dharmik (43) lost ₹15.15 lakh between September 10 and November 11, 2023. According to the police, Darshan received a call from cyber fraudsters who gained his trust by assigning prepaid tasks and providing small returns initially.

Lured by promises of higher earnings, he continued to invest, eventually transferring over ₹15 lakh. When the promised returns did not materialize, Darshan realized the fraud and filed a complaint. Inspector Amar Kalange is leading the investigation.

In the second incident, a young man was duped of ₹13.48 lakh under the pretext of a part-time job. This incident occurred between May 24 and September 26, 2024, in the Hadapsar area. The victim, Satish Raskar (49), filed a complaint at the Kalepadal police station.

As per the police, Raskar, also a resident of Hadapsar, came into contact with the accused on May 24, 2024. The fraudsters promised him a part-time job but claimed he needed to deposit money to secure the opportunity.

Believing their claims, Raskar transferred amounts to the fraudsters’ bank account in installments, amounting to over ₹13 lakh. However, despite the payments, he never received the job. Upon realizing the scam, he filed a police complaint. Senior Police Inspector Manasing Patil is leading the investigation.
