Pune: The Vitthal-Rukmini Temple Committee in Pandharpur has announced a new initiative to provide VIP darshan to newlywed couples visiting the temple for blessings. This decision ensures that newlyweds will no longer need to wait in long queues for darshan of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini.

The revered Vitthal-Rukmini Temple attracts millions of devotees from across Maharashtra every year. Among them, a significant number are newlyweds who visit the temple to seek divine blessings before beginning their married life. Until now, these couples were required to wait in the regular queue along with other devotees.

During a meeting held today, the Temple Committee resolved to extend VIP darshan privileges to newlywed couples, similar to the existing provision for differently-abled individuals. “This decision will allow newlyweds to have quick and smooth access to the deity’s blessings,” said Gahininath Maharaj Ausekar, Co-Chairman of the Temple Committee.

Additional Measures for Crowd Management

The Committee also announced special darshan hours for local residents of Pandharpur. Locals will be allowed access to the temple between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM in the morning and 10:00 PM to 10:30 PM at night. This measure aims to reduce overcrowding during peak hours.

These new arrangements will come into effect from January 29, 2025, as part of the temple’s ongoing efforts to enhance the experience of devotees.
