Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has dismissed Assistant Commissioner Shrinivas Dangat from service after a departmental inquiry revealed he had three children, violating the government's small family policy. The dismissal order was issued by PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.
Dangat had joined PCMC as a clerk and was later promoted to Administrative Officer (Group B) in 2013. At the time of promotion, employees were required to submit an affidavit declaring adherence to the government’s small family norm, which limits employees to two children. Despite repeated notices, Dangat failed to provide the required affidavit.
After a formal complaint was lodged, a departmental inquiry was initiated. During the investigation, Dangat admitted to having three children. The inquiry confirmed that this was a direct violation of the small family rule implemented by the government on July 1, 2005. Based on the findings, PCMC decided to terminate his service.
Close to Retirement:
Dangat was due to retire on February 28, 2025, leaving less than two months of service before his dismissal.
Dangat Plans to Challenge the Dismissal:
Expressing dissatisfaction with the decision, Dangat stated, “The municipal administration did not consider my side. This dismissal is unjust, and I plan to approach the High Court for redressal.”
