Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has announced a 2% monthly late fee on unpaid property taxes, effective from October 1, 2024.

The municipal administration’s tax assessment and collection department has already collected ₹508 crore in property taxes, with many citizens taking advantage of the discounts offered during the first and second quarters of the financial year.

Despite the high compliance rate, a significant number of property owners have yet to clear their dues. Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner of the tax assessment and collection department, has appealed to those property owners to promptly pay their outstanding taxes and avoid further penalties.

So far, out of over 630,000 property owners in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 390,577 have paid their property taxes, benefiting from total discounts worth ₹30 crore.

Among those who have cleared their dues, 342,152 are residential property owners, while 32,344 are non-residential, 8,711 are mixed-use, 2,937 are industrial, and 2,670 are open land property owners.

Municipal officials have stressed the importance of timely tax payments to support the city's development. Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Jabhale-Patil emphasized that those who have yet to settle their property taxes should do so immediately to avoid the monthly 2% late fee that has been applied starting this month.

More than half of the city's property owners have already settled their taxes and benefited from the Municipal Corporation’s discount schemes.

However, a substantial number of property owners still remain in arrears. Municipal authorities have urged all remaining property owners to pay their taxes without delay to avoid accruing further penalties.
