Persistent Power Outages Plague 50-60 Villages in Andar Maval

In some cases, it takes ten to fifteen days to restore power, impacting students, farmers, homemakers, and laborers.

Pune: For many years, 50 to 60 villages in Andar Maval have been struggling with persistent electricity issues. The villages of Savala, Khandi, Nilshi, and Kalkarai, located 35 kilometers from Takve Budruk, frequently experience prolonged power outages. In some cases, it takes ten to fifteen days to restore power, impacting students, farmers, homemakers, and laborers.

Water supply pumps in various village panchayats also cease functioning due to power cuts, forcing women to travel long distances for drinking water. Former Deputy Sarpanch of Takve Budruk, Rohidas Asawale, has submitted a memorandum to the Mahavitaran department in Vadgaon, highlighting the plight of these villages.

Asawale has demanded that the electricity generated by the Thokarwadi Dam (Tata Company) and wind turbines (Enercon Wind Power Company) be allocated to the Andar Maval region.

Currently, the power supply to these villages comes from the Talegaon Dabhade Power House, over 60 kilometers away. The aging power lines often fail, leaving many villages in darkness for eight to ten days until repairs are completed.

Asawale insists that electricity from Tata Company and Enercon Wind Power Company should be provided to these villages to address the frequent outages.

Digambar Agivale, a local businessman, shared his struggles: "I run a dairy business, and all dairy products need to be stored in a refrigerator. However, frequent power outages lead to spoilage of these products, causing significant financial losses."

Student Diksha Khandbhor also expressed her concerns: "During school education, we face major power issues at night and early in the morning. Sometimes, we go five to six days without electricity, making it impossible to complete our studies. The relevant department should address our educational needs and resolve this ongoing power issue."
