Pimpri: Three employees in the administration department at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation headquarters have contracted dengue, sparking concern over a wider health issue.

These employees, who work in close proximity, were suffering from fever, a fact unknown to the corporation's medical and health department. Instructions have now been issued for a thorough cleaning of the third floor.

The city of Pimpri Chinchwad is battling a significant rise in fever cases. Although the municipal administration has officially recorded only 27 cases of dengue, the actual number of patients seeking treatment for fever in private clinics and hospitals is believed to be much higher.

Questions have been raised about the accuracy of blood test reports from private laboratories, leading to their rejection and potentially underreporting the true number of dengue cases. Despite the growing number of fever cases, the municipal administration has not provided information on malaria and chikungunya cases.

In response to the increasing health concerns, Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh and other officials have initiated cleanliness drives in their homes and spent considerable amounts on public awareness campaigns. However, the administration was caught off guard by the dengue cases among their own employees.

The discovery of dengue cases among employees on the third floor of the municipal headquarters prompted immediate action, with instructions for a cleanliness drive to be carried out on that floor.

While the administration reports on dengue cases, information on malaria and chikungunya cases remains unavailable despite inquiries.
