Pune: With Ganesh Chaturthi just around the corner, preparations are in full swing for the annual migration of Konkan-bound devotees to their hometowns.

To meet the high demand, the Vallabhnagar State Transport (ST) depot has announced the addition of extra buses to its regular services. As of now, 50 buses have been reserved through group bookings, and they are scheduled to start their journeys on September 4th.

Ganesh Chaturthi holds a special place in the hearts of devotees, particularly those from the Konkan region. Every year, an influx of travelers makes its way back to their native villages, and the ST bus service plays a crucial role in facilitating this movement.

This year, the Vallabhnagar depot is continuing its tradition of providing special bus services to Konkan, with popular destinations including Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Khed, and Sawantwadi.

This year, the buses will depart on September 4th, 5th, and 6th, traveling to various destinations in the Konkan region, including Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Khed, and Sawantwadi. A total of 2,200 passengers have registered for these trips.

If the number of buses at the Vallabhnagar depot is insufficient, additional buses will be sourced from other depots. The depot management has indicated that five more ST buses are likely to be booked soon.

Vallabhnagar ST Depot Manager Sanjay Walwe confirmed, "We have arranged additional buses from the Vallabhnagar depot. So far, 50 buses have been booked. Based on passenger demand, more buses will be provided. These buses will head to Konkan on September 4th, 5th, and 6th."
