Speaking to BJP members at the party's headquarters in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his speech by applauding the NDA's victory in the Bihar elections.

He exclaimed, 'Jai Chhathi Maiya, this is an extraordinary win and a testament to the steadfast faith—Bihar's citizens have indeed made a remarkable impact.'

This is the same Bihar that was once under the control of Maoist terror.

Prime Minister Modi stated that the recent election has bolstered the public's confidence in the Election Commission of India. He remarked, 'The consistently high voter participation in recent years, along with the increased turnout among the underprivileged and marginalized, represents a major accomplishment for the Election Commission.'

He remarked that Bihar, once overshadowed by Maoist terror, where voting in Naxal-affected regions concluded by 3 pm, has transformed. In this election, Biharis have voted fearlessly, with enthusiasm and excitement. He also recalled the era of jungle raj in Bihar, when violence was rampant at polling stations and ballot boxes were stolen. Today, however, the same Bihar is witnessing record voter turnout, with peaceful voting and everyone casting their vote according to their preference.

On Friday, PM Modi characterized the NDA's overwhelming win as a success for 'good governance, development, and the principles of public welfare and social justice.' In several posts on X, he also congratulated the BJP's coalition allies, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, LJP-RV leader Chirag Paswan, HAM head Jitan Ram Manjhi, and RLM president Upendra Kushwaha.

The prime minister stated that the overwhelming public support will enable the NDA to serve the citizens and approach their duties for Bihar with renewed determination. The NDA, which includes the BJP, JD(U), and other parties, was heading towards a decisive victory in the Bihar assembly elections, leading in 204 out of the 243 seats.

Nitish Kumar responds

In a post on X, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated, "In the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections, the citizens of the state have shown their trust in our administration by granting us a significant majority. For this, I extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the respected voters of the state."

I express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for the support received from him, while bowing to him, he added.

The opposition coalition consisting of the RJD, Congress, and Left parties managed to secure a lead in 33 seats, which is 81 seats less than their total in the 2020 elections.

Backed by three other parties within the NDA, namely Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) head Upendra Khushwaha, and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, the NDA's success appears to be a strategic effort to unify the votes that these various parties can secure.

The NDA also capitalised on Nitish Kumar's corruption-free image, drawing a sharp contrast with RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who has been convicted in the fodder scam and continues to face trial in multiple corruption cases.
