On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead a meeting with chief ministers to assess the states' readiness in light of the Middle East conflict. Earlier, on Wednesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over an all-party meeting on the matter.
According to sources, as Iran maintains its control over the crucial Strait of Hormuz, impacting worldwide energy distribution, the meeting will concentrate on fostering a collaborative effort under the 'Team India' initiative.
During his address in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, the Prime Minister supported this strategy, highlighting that the consequences of the conflict are expected to persist and calling for collective effort.
Urging state governments to sustain India's strong growth path, PM Modi reminisced about the remarkable 'Team India' spirit shown during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the Centre and states worked together on testing, vaccination, and the distribution of essential items. He stressed that this spirit should be evident now as well.
He stated that by uniting the efforts of both state and central governments, the nation can successfully tackle this serious global challenge. We should continue with the same 'Team India' spirit.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah affirmed his attendance at the meeting, stating that there is no lack of petroleum products in the nation.
The Prime Minister has scheduled a meeting for tomorrow at 6:30 PM, which I will be attending as well. The agenda will cover the situation in Iran and the neighboring areas, along with the measures being implemented in response, stated the National Conference leader.
Regarding the situation in the Union Territory, Abdullah mentioned that there is a sufficient supply of petrol and LPG cylinders. However, people are lining up at petrol stations due to rumors spreading on social media.
The chief minister stated, "If this situation persists, I might have to close petrol stations for several days."
