Pune: The deadline for availing of the 5 per cent to 10 per cent discount on property tax payments ends tomorrow, June 15. Since April 1, around 675000 property owners have paid ₹1279.77 crores into the Pune Municipal treasury. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has urged those who haven't yet paid their property tax to do so promptly.

To maximize early tax collection, the PMC offers a 10 per cent discount on property taxes up to ₹25000 and a 5 per cent discount on amounts exceeding ₹25000 from April 1 to May 31. This scheme has consistently received a positive response from Pune residents. This year, due to delays in issuing property tax bills, the deadline was extended.

Out of a total of 14.22 lakh registered properties, 675193 residential property owners have paid ₹1279.77 crores. With the discount scheme's deadline approaching on Saturday (June 15), Deputy Commissioner and Head of the Tax Collection Department, Madhav Jagtap, has urged citizens who haven't paid their taxes to take advantage of the discount.

Originally, the discount period was set to end on May 31. By that date, 565000 property owners had paid ₹973 crores. With the additional 15-day extension, the administration anticipated collecting an additional ₹300 crores. Between June 1 and June 14, 110193 property owners paid ₹306 crores. The final day is expected to see further payments.
