Pune: A police constable posted at Khadak Police Station has been booked for fraud, assault, and deception after allegedly taking ₹5 lakh and 22 grams of gold jewelry from a woman under false pretenses and later refusing to marry her. Following the complaint, the Samarth Police Station registered a case, and the accused has been suspended for misconduct by DCP Sandeep Singh Gill.
Three-Year Relationship Based on False Promises
The complainant, a resident of Rasta Peth, first met Tushar Anil Sutar on Facebook in 2019. Over time, their interaction developed into a relationship. Sutar claimed that he was not living with his wife and persuaded the woman to stay with him.
When the woman’s husband learned of their relationship, he forced her to leave their home. She then moved in with Sutar along with her child and lived with him in Ambegaon for nearly three years.
On September 19, 2021, the complainant’s husband passed away, and she received ₹9 lakh from his life insurance policy. Sutar allegedly manipulated her into giving him ₹5 lakh and 22 grams of gold jewelry, citing various excuses. However, when she later asked for the return of her money and jewelry, he refused and misappropriated the valuables.
As time passed, when the woman asked him about marriage, Sutar evaded the topic. Upon her persistence, he verbally abused, assaulted, and ultimately refused to marry her.
After realizing she had been defrauded, the woman filed a complaint at Samarth Police Station. Given the seriousness of the allegations and the damage caused to the reputation of the police force, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill suspended Sutar.
