Pune: The President of India Droupadi Murmu has postponed her visit to Maharashtra, initially scheduled from July 28th to 30th, 2024. This announcement was communicated on July 26th, 2024.

Subsequently, the Symbiosis International University has also postponed the 21st Convocation Ceremony due to severe weather conditions and President Murmu's visit cancellation.

The Symbiosis International University, in a circular issued for students, has mentioned that "The Office of the Hon'ble President of India has also communicated to the University that due to unavoidable circumstances, the acceptance of the invitation to the Convocation scheduled on 29th July, 2024 stands postponed."

The Department of Disaster Management, Government of Maharashtra, has also advised caution to Symbiosis International University due to continued heavy rainfalls in and around Pune and the release of water from dams.

As a result, the University has decided to postpone the Convocation Ceremony scheduled for July 29th, 2024. Given the current weather situation and forecasts indicating continued adverse conditions, this decision prioritizes the safety and well-being of students and their families, the University has stated.

The Symbiosis International University had made extensive preparations for the 21st Convocation Ceremony, including erecting a large pandal on the campus and other arrangements to ensure a comfortable visit for attendees.

"We understand the significance of Convocation as a milestone in your academic journey and the disappointment this news may bring. Please be assured that the University will reschedule the Convocation Ceremony at a later date to celebrate your achievements," said Dr. M. S. Shejul, Registrar.
