Primary Health Centers and Schools in Pune District to Undergo Infrastructure Upgrades

Pune: In a review meeting organized in connection with the District Annual Plan 2024-25, District Collector Jitendra Dudi directed the structural audit of buildings of all primary health centers in the district, excluding newly constructed ones. He also emphasized that project proposals should only be submitted after confirming the availability of land to avoid delays.

The review meeting was held at the District Collectorate and attended by Zilla Parishad CEO Gajanan Patil, District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar, Additional CEO Chandrakant Waghmare, and heads of various administrative departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Dudi stated that land availability must be confirmed before submitting proposals for new buildings and projects. He added that if funds remain unutilized due to administrative hurdles or land constraints, they should either be returned or diverted to other priority areas.

Dudi also instructed officials to:

  • Conduct structural audits of old primary health center buildings and prepare repair or reconstruction plans.

  • Draft proposals for replacing outdated structures of sub-district and rural hospitals with new buildings.

  • Strengthen primary education facilities under the Zilla Parishad.

  • Utilize Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to address funding shortages for building new infrastructures.

Key Directives

  • Select one school under the Central School Scheme to develop as a model school.

  • Build Anganwadi centers in the premises of nearby primary schools if standalone spaces are unavailable.

  • Organize a competition among architects to design attractive and practical layouts for primary schools, health centers, and Anganwadis, and implement the selected design.

  • Focus on innovative group initiatives to boost employment in agriculture and rural industries.

  • Promote forest tourism as part of efforts to generate employment in rural areas.

Presentations and Proposals

District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar provided an overview of administrative approvals and fund allocations under the District Annual Plan for 2024-25. Departmental heads shared updates on the expenditure status and outlined plans for future projects.
