Pune: Two juveniles have been accused of stalking, threatening, and coercing a 14-year-old schoolgirl into inappropriate acts. The Sahakarnagar Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the complaint filed by the victim, the harassment began in November when one of the juveniles started following her, repeatedly expressing his interest in her.
When she refused to engage with him, he threatened to tarnish her reputation. The victim informed her parents, who then confronted the accused and his accomplice, warning them to stay away from her.
Despite this, on Saturday, December 7, the two juveniles approached the girl outside her school. They reportedly took her on a two-wheeler to an isolated area nearby.
One of them allegedly performed inappropriate acts, while the other captured the incident on his mobile phone. The duo then threatened to leak the photos on social media and harm her and her brother if she disclosed the incident.
Terrified, the girl finally sought help from the Sahakarnagar Police, who immediately registered the case. The investigation, being conducted by Sub-Inspector Kale under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Chhagan Kapse, is ongoing.
In light of the case, authorities have expressed concern over the rising number of incidents involving harassment of minors in Pune and its suburbs.
To address this, schools have started organizing counseling programs to educate students about reporting such incidents promptly. Police have emphasized the importance of vigilance and immediate reporting in preventing similar cases in the future.
