Pune: A 28-year-old man, identified as Sunny Ramesh Athawale, was found dead in an apparent case of suicide at Shlok Building near Priyadarshini School in Dhankawadi. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday (February 5) and falls under the jurisdiction of the Sahakarnagar Police Station.

However, relatives of the deceased suspect foul play, leading the police to register a case against three individuals, including a woman and a minor. The case was lodged following a complaint by Kundan Baburao Athawale, a relative of the deceased.

According to the complaint filed with the police, Sunny had been living with a woman in a live-in relationship for the past year. However, their relationship was reportedly troubled by frequent disputes, and the woman’s relatives allegedly issued threats to him.

On Wednesday at midnight, the complainant received a phone call from the woman, informing him that Sunny had taken his own life. Initially dismissing it as unbelievable, the complainant later confirmed the news through a friend before rushing to Pune.

Upon arrival, he raised suspicions regarding the circumstances of Sunny’s death and urged the police to investigate whether it was a case of suicide or homicide.

Following the complaint, Sahakarnagar Police have registered a case against three individuals, including the woman involved. The investigation is ongoing, and police officials are examining the circumstances leading to the death.
