Pune: The verification of applications under the “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin” scheme has resumed following a pause due to the election code of conduct.

Of the total 2.1 million applications filed in Pune district, 2.08 million have been approved so far. However, concerns have been raised regarding rejections during the verification process.

Out of the total applications:

  • 10,000 applications have been permanently rejected.

  • 5,724 applications have been partially rejected due to discrepancies.

  • 12,044 applications are still under scrutiny.

  • 69,175 applications remain incomplete due to the lack of Aadhaar linkage with bank accounts.

Before the elections, the administration worked at a rapid pace to verify applications, resulting in the disbursement of ₹1,500 to eligible beneficiaries. However, pending applications could not be processed further due to the enforcement of the election code of conduct.

Aadhaar Linking Issues Persist

One of the major reasons for pending applications is the failure to link Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts. Despite repeated appeals from the administration, 69,175 women across the district are yet to complete this process.

Haveli taluka has the highest number of such cases, with 33,896 incomplete applications.

Pune city has 8,880 incomplete applications.

The district administration has denied receiving any directives to review or cancel a significant number of applications.

“There are no instructions from the government to reject applications en masse. Currently, only the scrutiny of pending applications is underway, and eligible applications will be forwarded to the government for further processing,” said Jamsingh Girase, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Women and Child Welfare Department.
