Pune Airport Falls Short in Passenger Amenities, ASQ Rankings Drop

The airport's rating has fallen from 71st to 76th place, with a score dropping from 4.83 to 4.81 out of 5.

Pune: The Pune Airport has been ranked lower in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Index, reflecting a decline in passenger amenities amidst rising traveler numbers.

The airport's rating has fallen from 71st to 76th place, with a score dropping from 4.83 to 4.81 out of 5. This decline has caused significant inconvenience to passengers, leading to growing dissatisfaction.

The ASQ Index, conducted by Airports Council International, surveys 400 airports across 95 countries, including 14 in India. The latest survey covered the April to June quarter and highlighted several areas where Pune Airport's services have deteriorated.

The ASQ Index considers 31 key aspects of airport service quality, including seating near the entrance, ease of finding directions, availability of flight information, proximity between the airport and terminal, courtesy of airport staff, Wi-Fi service quality, availability of charging stations, entertainment or relaxation options, cleanliness of restrooms, health safety measures, overall cleanliness, and atmosphere.

Pune Airport's ranking has dropped in 16 out of these 31 services.

  • Difficulty in finding the check-in area

  • Courtesy of check-in staff

  • Waiting time for security checks

  • Courtesy of security staff

  • Availability of shops at the airport

  • Courtesy of customs staff

  • Seating arrangements at the airport

  • Courtesy of food service staff

  • Quality of Wi-Fi service

  • Availability of charging stations

  • Entertainment and relaxation facilities

  • Availability of restrooms

  • Cleanliness of restrooms

  • Health safety measures

  • Overall cleanliness of the airport

  • Connectivity to various destinations

Dhairyasheel Wandekar, Aviation Expert said, "Countries worldwide are focusing on equipping their airports with advanced technology, quality passenger-friendly services, and providing the best travel experience.

The Pune Airport administration must ensure a pleasant travel experience for passengers. The newly started terminal is expected to meet travelers' expectations."
