Pune: A major scare occurred at Pune airport after an anonymous threat to blow up 11 planes was reported, intensifying concerns over aviation security in the country.

The planes, bound for various domestic and international destinations, were threatened with bomb explosions, triggering widespread panic among passengers and airport authorities.

The threat came through a tweet on 'X' (formerly Twitter), addressed to the manager of a prominent airline.

The message was accompanied by an email stating that bombs had been placed on planes departing from Pune and would soon explode.

The planes affected by this threat were heading to cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, and others. Upon receiving the threat, airport security and police immediately tightened security measures, and bomb squads were called to inspect the aircraft and surrounding areas.

A case has been filed at the Pune Airport police station against an unidentified person.

Law enforcement agencies, including the cyber cell, are investigating the source of the threat. Meanwhile, passengers were urged to remain calm as security checks were intensified.

False Bomb Threat at Dumna Airport

In a related incident, an anonymous caller had threatened to blow up Dumna Airport in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The threat was later found to be false after thorough investigation.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Anand Kuladgi, the caller had claimed a bomb was planted on an Indigo flight, but this turned out to be a hoax.

An FIR has been filed, and the cyber cell is conducting a detailed probe. In the past nine days, more than 170 planes have received bomb threats across the country.
