Pune: Anti-Corruption Bureau Nabs Setu Office Contractual Workers Taking Bribe

Pune: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested two female contractual computer operators working at the Nagrik Suvidha Kendra (Setu) office in Pune for allegedly accepting a ₹400 bribe to process an application. A case has been registered at the Bund Garden police station under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Accused Demanded ₹500 to Process Landless Certificate Application

The accused, identified as Vandana Dinesh Shinde (50) and Jayshree Rohidas Pawar (45), were working on a contractual basis at the Setu Center in the Haveli Upper Tehsil Office.

The case came to light after a citizen approached the ACB with a complaint, stating that the duo demanded ₹500 in exchange for processing an application for a landless certificate. After negotiations, the complainant agreed to pay ₹400 and then reported the incident to the ACB.

ACB Lays Trap, Arrests Accused While Accepting Bribe

Following the complaint, the ACB set up a trap at the Setu office on Friday afternoon. As soon as the accused accepted the bribe from the complainant, they were caught red-handed. Both women were immediately taken into custody, and a case was registered against them.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional SP Dr. Sheetal Janve. Further investigation into the matter is being led by Police Inspector Shriram Shinde.

The arrests highlight the ACB’s ongoing efforts to tackle corruption in government offices, ensuring that citizens receive services without unlawful monetary demands.
