Pune, 13 October 2025: On Sunday afternoon, Baner police discovered the decomposed remains of a 24-year-old man under a cliff at Baner Hill. The man, who worked at an automotive showroom, had been missing since July 18.
Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant reported that the individual departed from his Baner apartment on July 18. A note, thought to be authored by him, suggested he was taking his own life because of an outstanding loan. Nonetheless, officials have not yet verified the loan's origin, as his bank statements reveal no transactions or loans under his name.
The discovery of the body occurred after a local resident notified the police early on Sunday morning. "The body was found approximately 25 meters beneath a cliff. We retrieved it along with an ID card, which allowed us to confirm his identity. His parents subsequently verified it," stated Inspector Sawant.
Authorities believe the individual might have ingested poison, given that multiple bottles of what appears to be poison were discovered at the location. A missing person's report was filed on July 18, and searches were carried out in the vicinity then, but he was not found.
Officials are still probing the details related to the young man's demise.
