Pune Municipal Corporation’s ₹12,618 crore budget, presented under administrative rule, has sparked dissatisfaction within the ruling BJP. Several former corporators have alleged that funds meant for development work in their wards have been unfairly distributed, with certain coordinators receiving disproportionate allocations.
Since PMC is currently run by an administrator, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale prepared and presented the budget. He revealed that political representatives had submitted requests for ₹30,000 crore worth of projects, but only genuinely necessary ones were approved.
While the budget includes allocations for former corporators, MLAs, and some opposition leaders, it has come to light that two key BJP coordinators—who were responsible for recommending fund distribution—have directed significant funds to their own constituencies.
Sources indicate that:
One coordinator received ₹32 crore, while the other was allotted ₹24 crore.
A senior BJP functionary’s constituency received over ₹20 crore.
Former corporators from Kothrud, Pune Cantonment, Kasba, and Parvati secured up to ₹10 crore each for development work.
Several ex-corporators who submitted requests but failed to actively follow up received less than ₹1 crore.
Many former BJP corporators who expected funding between ₹5 to ₹10 crore have been left disappointed. They argue that the coordinators appointed to ensure fair distribution have instead favored certain constituencies, leaving others with minimal or no funding.
