The crime occurred on April 11, 2025, when the victim left her college in Rajgurunagar mid-morning. Manjare offered her a lift but diverted the route to a sugarcane field near Manjarewadi under the pretext of watering his farm. There, he attempted to sexually assault her. When she resisted, he struck her with a stone, killing her instantly. He then dragged her body to the Bhima River and disposed of it.

The victim’s family was preparing for her engagement scheduled on April 13, unaware of the tragedy until police confirmed her murder. The incident has sparked widespread grief and outrage in the village, with demands for the harshest punishment for the accused.

Police investigations led by Senior Inspector Prabhakar More and Assistant Inspector Snehal Raje used technical leads and local inputs to apprehend Manjare, who confessed during interrogation. The victim’s funeral was held under tight police security amid emotional unrest.
