The accused has been identified as Akhilesh Laxman Rajguru, 45. According to police, the complainant had approached Rajguru at his office in Dhanakwadi to seek astrological guidance for her brother, who was facing difficulties in cracking civil service exams like the IAS and IPS. After reviewing the horoscope, the astrologer claimed that a particular plant was needed to perform a ritual to remove obstacles from her brother’s path.

On Saturday, July 19, Rajguru reportedly sent a message to the woman asking her to visit his office to receive the plant. When she arrived, he placed the plant on her head and began chanting mantras. However, during the ritual, he allegedly hugged her inappropriately, leading to the molestation.

Following the incident, the woman immediately approached Sahakarnagar Police Station and filed a complaint. Based on her statement, the police booked Rajguru under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including molestation, as well as under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act.

Senior Police Inspector Rahul Gaud confirmed that the astrologer was produced before the court on Sunday, July 20, and was remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
