Ayush Komkar, the son of rival gang member Ganesh Komkar, was shot dead on September 5. Police investigations reveal that the Andekar gang had originally planned to attack the family of Somnath Gaikwad, an accused in the murder of former corporator Vanraj Andekar. When that plan failed, the gang allegedly targeted Ayush instead.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Shivam alias Shubham Andekar (31), Laxmi Andekar (60), Shivraj Andekar (29), and Abhishek Andekar (21), all residents of Nana Peth in Pune. According to Additional Police Commissioner Pankaj Deshmukh, the gang members were traced and taken into custody with the help of local authorities.

Earlier, police had arrested eight others, including gang leader Suryakant alias Bandu Andekar, from Buldhana district and Pune. With these fresh arrests, a total of 12 suspects are now in custody, while key accused Krishna alias Krishnaraj Andekar (40) remains absconding.

Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all 13 accused. During searches at Bandu Andekar’s residence, officials seized 77 tolas of gold jewellery, ₹2.5 lakh in cash, and valuables worth around ₹75 lakh. The investigation is being led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Shankar Khatke.
