Pune, 5th June 2025: The accused, who had murdered a stranger and fled after a dispute over unnatural sex, was arrested by the Crime Branch team from Shirur in just 24 hours.
The incident took place on Wednesday, June 4 in the parking lot of a building opposite Mandai Metro Station. The accused is named as Ramesh Prakash Satre (age 21, resident of Katrad, Taluka Rahuri, Dist. Ahilyanagar).
The police control room received information that a person (aged approximately 50) was lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot near Mandai Metro Station. The injured person was admitted to Sassoon Hospital for treatment; however, the doctors declared him dead. A case has been registered at Vishrambaug Police Station in this regard.
In this case, Additional Commissioner of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle ordered a parallel investigation.
During the investigation, the police received important information through a tip-off. It was learned that the accused Ramesh Satre was hiding in his brother's house at Borhade Mala in Shirur taluka.
A team led by Senior Police Inspector Shabbir Syed of Crime Branch Unit, comprising Assistant Inspector Abhijit Patil, Krishna Babar, Police Anmaldar Aniket Babar, Shashikant Darekar, Nilesh Jadhav, Abhinav Ladkat, Amit Jamdade, Nilesh Sable, Shubham Desai arrested the accused. Further investigation is being conducted by Vishrambaug Police.
The deceased and the accused did not know each other. After both of them drank alcohol, they had an argument over unnatural sex. At that time, the accused stabbed the stranger on the neck with a kitchen knife from a shop in Shevpuri. The person who was seriously injured died. Police Inspector Shabbir Syed said that the accused was arrested with the help of CCTV footage and news.
