Pune witnessed a shocking daylight burglary in Salisbury Park's Marble House society, where thieves unlocked an apartment door using a key and stole jewelry worth 50 tolas, diamond-studded ornaments, and silver valuables.

According to a complaint filed by Sheela Sushil Jain, 57, at Swargate Police Station, the theft occurred on December 18 while she and her daughter were out for errands.

Sheela Jain’s husband, Sushil, is an accountant at a private company in the Cantonment area, while their son is a tax consultant, and their daughter runs a tuition center. The family owned jewelry totaling 30 tolas (22 tolas from the bride's side and 8 tolas from the groom's side), which was kept in a cupboard in the bedroom.

The family members usually share four apartment keys. On the day of the theft, Sushil accidentally left his key at home. Sheela, before heading out with her daughter, hid her key in the shoe rack outside the apartment. She later informed her husband about the arrangement over the phone.

Upon returning at 3 p.m., Sheela and her daughter found that the cupboard had been opened, and gold, silver, and diamond ornaments were missing. The thieves had taken advantage of the hidden key to access the apartment.

Senior inspector Yuvraj Nandre of Swargate Police Station visited the scene, and sub-inspector Ravindra Kaspate is leading the investigation.

CCTV cameras in the Marble House society captured the movements of the burglars. The footage is now being examined by the police to identify the suspects. The incident, involving the theft of 50 tolas of jewelry in broad daylight, has caused alarm among residents. They have demanded immediate action to apprehend the culprits.
