Pune: The Dr. Balasaheb Deoras Aviation Gallery in Shivajinagar, revived by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) earlier this year, has become a hub for aviation enthusiasts and students.
After years of neglect, the gallery was reopened and has since welcomed more than 10,000 students over the past eight months.
Aviation Education Under One Roof
Students from schools and colleges across Pune district have visited the gallery for educational excursions.
The facility, which offers insights into aviation history, science, and careers, features eight dedicated sections. Highlights include scaled aircraft models, details of airport operations, and military aviation exhibits.
Encouraging Careers in Aviation
The gallery also focuses on motivating students to pursue careers in the rapidly expanding aviation sector. A special section showcases opportunities in fields such as space science, paragliding, and drone technology. A projector room offers educational films and presentations.
Dattatraya Gote, Manager of the gallery, emphasized the need for more Marathi students in aviation, citing the availability of numerous job opportunities.
Dashrath Bhosale, Chairman of SNBP International School, called the gallery a source of pride for Pune, encouraging students to explore its offerings.
The PMC plans to promote the gallery further as a unique educational resource in India, aiming to inspire the next generation of aviators.
