Pune Floods Damage Assessments Near Completion

Administration has also set up 12 help centers to assist citizens whose documents, such as Aadhaar cards, were damaged or lost in the floodwaters.

Pune: The district administration has announced that the work of assessing the damage caused by recent floods in Pune and its surrounding areas is 60 per cent complete.

The remaining assessments are expected to be finished by Sunday (July 28), after which a proposal for aid will be submitted to the government. Special teams were deployed for this task, completing 5600 assessments across Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune city, and Haveli taluka.

In response to the floods, the district administration has also set up 12 help centers to assist citizens whose documents, such as Aadhaar cards and various certificates, were damaged or lost in the floodwaters.

These centers will provide new documents on the spot at several locations, including Dr. Rajendra Prasad School Bopodi, Cantonment Office Khadki, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule School Tadiwala Road, Parulekar School Yerawada, Buddha Vihar Community Temple Mangalwar Peth, Barne School Mangalwar Peth, Kalmadi School Mangalwar Peth, Anusayabai Khillare School Erandwane, Ambedkar School Patil Estate, Tapodham Society Warje, Ektanagar Vadgaon Budruk, Indira Nagar Uttam Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri.

Tourism Sites Closed Until Further Notice

In some parts of the district, rain is still continuing. Due to the yellow alert issued for the coming days, dangerous tourist spots in the district will remain closed until further notice, as per the administration's communication. Citizens are advised not to visit dangerous locations for tourism purposes.

District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase said, "The administration is trying to provide assistance to citizens as quickly as possible. Independent help centers have been established to provide immediate necessary certificates to avoid hindrances in their daily work. Instructions have been given to the staff to provide all facilities to the flood-affected people."
