Ganesh Festival in Pune Marred by Violent Attack in Pashan

Old rivalry leads to a sickle assault; four accused booked, two of them minors

Pune, 4th September 2025: Pune witnessed a violent turn during the ongoing Ganesh festival when a young man was attacked with a sickle outside a Ganesh mandal in Pashan.

According to police, the incident occurred after four individuals confronted Sachin Mane over an old dispute. The group allegedly abused him and one of them attacked him with a sickle. Fortunately, Mane survived the assault and has since been discharged from hospital.

A case has been registered at Baner Police Station against all four accused. Among them, two are just 17 years old. Police have detained the minors and sent them to a correctional home. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
