Pune: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Crime Branch of Pune Police has arrested a gangster from the Loni Kalbhor area, seizing cannabis worth ₹3 lakh. The arrested individual, identified as 28-year-old Sahil Vinayak Jagtap, has a criminal record that includes charges of attempted murder and other serious offenses.

Sahil Jagtap, a resident of Kelawadi in Kothrud, had previously been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) along with his associates. After recently being released from prison, he came under police radar for allegedly resuming illegal activities, specifically drug trafficking.

Based on a tip-off that Jagtap would be transporting narcotics, the Anti-Narcotics Cell laid a trap near the toll plaza in the Loni Kalbhor area. During the operation, Jagtap was apprehended with a bag containing cannabis valued at ₹3 lakh.

Authorities are now investigating the source of the drugs and Jagtap’s network to identify potential accomplices and buyers. The operation was executed under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingale and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell team, led by Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam and supported by Assistant Inspector Shashikant Khoshe, along with officers Maruti Pardhi and Pravin Uttekar, conducted the raid successfully.

The ANC team had recently arrested three individuals attempting to sell drugs in the Sinhagad Road area, recovering narcotics worth ₹19.45 lakh. The suspects were identified as Anshul Mishra (27), Arsh Vyas (25), and Piyush Ingle (22), and were apprehended near Bhumkar Chowk in Narhe following a tip-off.
