Pune: Prices of garlic, cucumber, bell peppers, and peas have dropped in Pune’s Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard, while most other vegetable prices have remained stable, according to traders.
The wholesale market on Sunday (February 2) received a total of 90 trucks of vegetables from different states, including Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
Locally, Pune saw inflows of:
600-700 sacks of colocasia (arbi) from Satara.
7-8 tempos of okra.
4-5 tempos of cluster beans.
10,000-12,000 crates of tomatoes.
4-5 tempos of green chilies.
10-12 tempos of bell peppers.
8-10 tempos of cucumbers.
5-6 tempos of cabbage.
10-12 tempos of cauliflower.
10-12 tempos of red pumpkin.
70-75 trucks of onions.
35-40 tempos of potatoes from Indore, Agra, and other regions.
Bulk Vegetable Arrivals
From outside Maharashtra, the arrivals included:
10-12 tempos of garlic from Madhya Pradesh.
8-10 tempos of green chilies from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh.
4-5 tempos of cabbage from Karnataka and Gujarat.
3-4 tempos each of French beans and field beans from Karnataka.
2 tempos of groundnut pods.
3-4 tempos of drumsticks from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
14-15 tempos of carrots from Rajasthan.
17-18 trucks of peas from Madhya Pradesh.
1 tempo of Totapuri mangoes from Tamil Nadu.
Leafy Greens Get Cheaper
Leafy greens such as karadai (safflower leaves), ambadi (roselle), and spinach saw price reductions, while coriander, fenugreek, dill, spring onions, mint, radish, and chickpea greens remained stable.
The wholesale prices per hundred bundles stood at:
Coriander: ₹400 – ₹800
Fenugreek: ₹600 – ₹1,000
Dill: ₹500 – ₹800
Spring onions: ₹800 – ₹1,000
Safflower leaves: ₹300 – ₹600
Mint: ₹300 – ₹600
Radish: ₹600 – ₹1,000
Spinach: ₹800 – ₹1,000
Fruit Market Trends: Jujube and Papaya Prices Rise, Lemon Prices Drop
In the fruit market, jujube (bor) and papaya prices increased, while lemons saw a price drop. Prices of pineapple, oranges, sweet lime, watermelon, muskmelon, sapota (chikoo), and guava remained unchanged.
Key fruit arrivals on Sunday included:
40-50 tons of sweet lime.
50-60 tons of oranges.
30-35 tons of pomegranates.
1,500 sacks of lemons.
25-30 tempos of watermelon.
7-8 tempos of muskmelon.
